You can help prevent the diseases in your workplace, school or home by following the current UK Government and WHO advice as follows;

"COVID-19 is a new illness that can affect your lungs and airways. It's caused by a virus called coronavirus.

The advice for anyone in any setting is to follow these main guidelines.

·  If you have been in contact with someone with coronavirus or have returned from an affected area identified by the Chief Medical Officer as high risk and you are feeling unwell with a cough, difficulty breathing or fever, stay at home and use the NHS 111 online coronavirus service or call NHS 111.

·  Wash your hands more often than usual, for 20 seconds using soap and hot water, particularly after coughing, sneezing and blowing your nose, or after being in public areas where other people are doing so. Use hand sanitiser if that's all you have access to.

·  To reduce the spread of germs when you cough or sneeze, cover your mouth and nose with a tissue, or your sleeve (not your hands) if you don't have a tissue, and throw the tissue away immediately. Then wash your hands or use a hand sanitising gel.

·  Clean and disinfect regularly touched objects and surfaces using your regular cleaning products to reduce the risk of passing the infection on to other people.

At the current time and based on our understanding of what is known of COVID-19 and other similar respiratory viruses, it is likely that older people and those with chronic medical conditions may be vulnerable to severe disease. As more information emerges, recommendations may change."

Covid-19 Cleaning & Decontamination

How we can help?

Here at The SafeGroup we have invested heavily in the latest cleaning technologies to ensure we are able to deliver cleaning and decontamination services to the highest level and at the quickest speed. Have a look further into our electrostatic decontamination service.

We also pride ourselves on being at the forefront of any viral outbreaks, such as the recent Covid-19 Wuhan Novel Coronavirus eruption across the globe, and see it as our duty to help contain it and ultimately save lives.

To see why we are the experts listen to our Managing Director on local and national radio by clicking here

With this in mind we follow 3 simply steps…

1. Act Fast

Speed is paramount when dealing with any viral outbreak and our highly skilled teams deal with these type of events daily so know what to do and how to do it quickly.

Combined with our extensive knowledge of working within both the Public and Private sector we use the latest in electrostatic sprayer technology which allows us to deliver  an environmentally friendly disinfectant will eliminate Coronavirus (SARS-associated) Human Coronavirus (VR-740), Canine Coronavirus (VR-809) as well as RNA and DNA which is very important when sanitising and decontaminating viruses.

Our technology has a 70% faster delivery time than traditional methods meaning we can act fast and secure more areas of risk quickly.

We deliver a emergency same day response time.

2. Be Proactive

We use only the best quality and tried and tested cleaning systems – including
disinfectants, equipment and procedures – to carry out environmental cleans and as they are persistent solutions they will continue to be effective when they have dried unlike alternative chemicals that are only effective when wet.

These persistent proactive solutions starts to work within 10 seconds  and continue to be effective against a plethora of viral and bacterial threats and pathogens.

3. Ensure Containment

Our environmental cleaning teams are trained and led by qualified and experienced
team leaders who follow specific procedures, including establishing a risk assessment
and method statement (RAMS).

These strict decontamination procedures allow us to contain any viral outbreaks quickly and with the least amount of impact across your business.

This also ensures that staff traces of infection on work place surfaces can be dealt with quickly, thus significantly reducing the chances of onward transmission and cross infection to other staff and also giving great peace of mind to those in the workplace.

Once the environment has been contained we remove all waste safely and dispose it as clinical waste keeping the whole area clean and infection free.

How we evaluate and eliminate the risk

The type of contamination will define how we clean and treat the affected areas, but the process will include the following steps.

Speed is key in these cases. A team can be allocated to your site within hours, anywhere in the UK following the call. Once on-site our trained operatives will firstly ensure that they themselves are fully protected wearing the correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

The contaminated area will be isolated and sealed (if internal), and the bio-hazard team will remove the excess fluid and seal in clinical waste sacks. In the case of the covid-19 virus we will seal off the affected area (in some cases this may be the whole building, ship or plane), and install air cleansing equipment before starting the decontamination of all surfaces.

Once the excess fluid is removed the area will be treated with a medical grade disinfectant which will completely eliminate the bacteria and viruses.

All cleaning materials generated will be treated as clinical waste, and as such will be sent by us for incineration at one of our suppliers plants. As licensed waste carriers CleanSafe are trained to handle and dispose of the hazardous waste and, perhaps most importantly, provide you with certification we have made the area safe, and provide you with and waste transfer paperwork for your file.

Facilities managers – these documents will form an important part of any due diligence file and we are happy also to come to speak with you before any such outbreak to put together contingency plans which can also form part of your emergency planning and strategy.

Large variety of happy clients

Enhanced Covid-19 cleaning company guidelines

These covid-19 cleaning company guidelines for companies are designed to help reduce the risk of spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) from contact with contaminated surfaces.

We recommend sites adopt enhanced cleaning processes. It is recognised that our housekeeping procedures, whether provided by our colleagues or a vendor, may not be thorough enough to adequately reduce the risk of coronavirus transmission.

  • Businesses should discuss these guidelines with their covid 19 cleaning company and their company employees to ensure that they are immediately implemented

  • It is recommended that businesses periodically observe the actual cleaning process to ensure proper implementation

  • Of primary concern for coronavirus cleaning, business owners need to be aware of the occupancies and surfaces where frequent human contact might provide a reservoir for COVID-19. This is often referred to as touch-point cleaning. While each facility and operation will be different, the following areas should receive attention:

  • Areas where staff, customers or the public congregate including offices, conference rooms, canteens and cafeterias, locker rooms and receptions.

  • Bathrooms and hygiene facilities including lavatories, toilets, shower rooms and handwashing stations

  • Dispensaries including, medical & first aid stations, emergency showers and eyewash stations

Frequently touched surfaces for touchpoint Covid-19 cleaning:

  • Desktops and all work surfaces

  • Doorknobs and door handles

  • Light switches and dimmer switches

  • Computer monitors, keyboards, mice

  • Tablets and laptops

  • Telephone equipment

  • All chair rests and arms

  • Canteen tables and chairs, crockery, trays and cutlery

  • Sinks, taps and kitchen areas

  • Toilets, including all surfaces

  • Water fountains and drinks dispensers and vending machines

  • Lifts and their doors and buttons.

Frequency of cleaning for Covid-19 cleaning companies

The areas highlighted above should be cleaned at least daily by any covid-19 cleaning company. if possible, these areas should be cleaned between shifts. Businesses should use a commercial disinfecting wipe, detergent and water. ideally, you should use commercial anti-microbial products - see Disinfection section below -. The general cleaning guideline is that the more people who have contact with these surfaces, the more frequently that surface should be cleaned.

  • Internal or external cleaning staff will be responsible for regular cleaning of common areas frequented by employees

  • Provide disposable wipes or other cleaning products identified in Table 1 (listed further below) so that commonly used surfaces can be wiped down by employees before each use.

Covid-19 cleaning of non-office areas including production areas, including shipping, receiving and labs

Many of our facilities have specific cleaning requirements for production areas, shipping and receiving areas, laboratories, and other non-office areas as dictated by quality systems, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), or other requirements. These procedures should be maintained. In many cases, these procedures will include disinfection that will reduce the risk posed by viruses such as COVID-19 or other pathogens.

That said, existing procedures may not include disinfection, or may not include disinfection in all areas. In these cases, to the extent that these enhanced cleaning guidelines can be implemented without compromising quality or other production requirements, they should be considered.

Recognizing that cleaning services may not frequent our production areas, site leaders are encouraged to work with operators to implement enhanced cleaning procedures in production, shipping and receiving, laboratories, etc., particularly with respect to frequently touched surfaces.

Personal protective equipment recommendations:

  • Safety glasses with side shields and gloves (non-latex)

  • Dispose of gloves after cleaning and wash hand with soap and water for at least 20 seconds

For general precautionary cleaning, detergent and water are adequate. Many general household products contain the appropriate concentrations of active ingredients (AIs) for disinfection of areas that are very likely to be contaminated with COVID-19 virus (i.e., bedroom of a person confirmed to have COVID-19).

The AIs and their effective concentrations listed below in Table 1 have been shown to be effective against known coronaviruses. In addition to the use of cleaning agents, other treatments effective against known coronaviruses include steam and heat treatment. As the COVID-19 virus is new, no study has been published on the virus. This assessment is thus based on published scientific studies on coronaviruses, a group to which the COVID-19 virus belongs.

Guidelines for disinfection for known or suspected cases of COVID-19

These following guidelines are designed for the disinfection of areas that have been frequented by an individual with a known or suspected case of COVID-19. These guidelines are separate from the enhanced routine cleaning guidelines outlined above and will not be used by sites unless they have a known or suspected case of COVID-19.

As part of our site preparedness efforts, all site leaders must immediately contact their cleaning services provider to confirm whether they have the capability to clean according to these guidelines. Confirming this information now will help you ensure that proper disinfection can begin as soon as possible should your site experience suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19.

Many Thermo Fisher colleagues serve on the housekeeping staff at our sites. Sites are strongly discouraged from asking our colleagues who serve on the cleaning staff to disinfect areas after a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19. If your housekeeping staff includes Thermo Fisher employees, site leaders must contact external vendors and locate a company that can perform cleaning according to these guidelines as part of our preparedness efforts. Once a vendor is located, efforts must be made to secure their services in the event they are needed (i.e., execute contract and service agreements ahead of time).

Site leaders who have difficulty identifying or securing a vendors that can perform disinfection, or who  feel the best option is to have their employee cleaning staff perform the disinfection, must contact local environmental, health and safety resources and corporate Risk Management for further guidance.

In the absence of specific guidance from the World Health Organization and United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other national healthcare agencies, all locations should be prepared to follow the European Union guidance contained in the Interim guidance for environmental cleaning in non-healthcare facilities exposed to SARS-CoV-2 (February 18, 2020) until further notice. We will continue to monitor for new guidelines with respect to COVID-19 and update this guidance as necessary.

The survival time for COVID-19 is not known for certain, so it is best to assume that the virus can survive on surfaces of different materials for at least 2 to 3 days, and possibly longer. Where there is reason to suspect that surfaces may have been contaminated with COVID-19, the surfaces should be sanitized. If the potentially contaminated surface is covered with a textile, it may be necessary to launder the material at the warmest temperatures recommended for the material with a laundry detergent and bleach.

Disinfectants should be prepared and applied in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations. Ensure that appropriate contact time is given before rinsing or removing the disinfectant. Please see the Disinfectants section below or refer to the European guidance referenced below for recommendations on disinfectants that can be used.

Disinfection of production, shipping and receiving, laboratories and other non-office locations should be done in consultation with QA/QC staff, operations and others as appropriate to ensure selected disinfectants and proposed methods are acceptable from a quality and production perspective.

Important points to note when using disinfectants:

  • Check the labels and use according to instructions, and be aware of the potential hazard of each product

  • Avoid contact with eye and skin when handling cleaning products

  • Comply with all warnings and precautions for use

  • Do not mix different cleaning products

  • Use in a well-ventilated area

  • For disinfection of highly contaminated surfaces or material, avoid the use of spray, and allow appropriate contact time needed for disinfection prior to rinsing or removing the product from the treated surface (refer to product instruction).

  • effective against known coronaviruses. In addition to the use of cleaning agents, other treatments effective against known coronavirus include steam and heat treatment. All disinfectants should be used according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

  • Soak cloths, mops, etc. with disinfectant or bleach solution and avoid spray applications which may create splashes and further spread the virus

  • Wipe tabletops, desks, benches or other horizontal surfaces with human contact with disinfectant or the prepared bleach solution at the beginning and again at the end of the cleaning

  • Where possible, seal off areas where the confirmed case has visited until all cleaning and disinfection of the contaminated surfaces has been completed

  • Remove curtains, fabrics, quilts, pillows and cushions for washing, preferably using the hot water cycle. Alternatively, you may choose to simply dispose of these items.

  • For hot-water laundry cycles, wash with detergent or disinfectant in water at 70ºC for at least 25 minutes. If low-temperature (i.e., less than 70ºC) laundry cycles are used, choose a chemical that is suitable for low-temperature washing when used at the proper concentration.

  • Arrange for a cleaning contractor to properly disinfect any carpets that have been used by any person who has been confirmed to have COVID-19

  • Floors and hard surfaces should be cleaned using a disinfectant selected from the list below or contained in the European guidance

  • Disinfect non-porous cleaning equipment by soaking in disinfectant or bleach solution. Disinfect equipment used in one room, before using for other rooms. If possible, keep the disinfecting equipment separated from other routine equipment.

  • Double-bag all materials for disposal (including rags, respirators, disposable gowns and gloves) and seal with a cable tie. Wear a new pair of gloves for handling the bag.

  • Waste should be disposed of upon completion of the disinfection work in accordance with local or country regulations for the disposal of biohazardous waste.

xis have received a number of inquiries from customers about what we can do to help, especially as it is likely in the coming weeks that a lot of buildings will either have staff members or visitors bringing Corona virus into them; we can therefore offer a deep cleaning service.

The process we would follow is:

  • Initially cleaning the areas with Selgiene Extreme using disposal clothes which includes all contact points i.e., light switches, banisters, lift buttons, public seating and washrooms after the initial wiping down of the contact point areas.

  • We would also spray the areas using a Clorox machine to disperse the chemical to eliminate any further bacteria – this machine is a post cleaner sanitizer that kills all know viruses and bacteria – We have attached a demonstration video which details the process.

We have access to these Clorox machines, throughout our UK operation centres as part of our Corona virus deep cleaning plan, and we are one of the few companies in the UK to have invested in them a few months ago when they first became available.

We are experiencing a high demand over the UK for this service and whilst we appreciate the difficulty everybody is experiencing at this time, we are doing our upmost to ensure that we can continue to deliver this service to clients. Our service is discreet and can be carried out of hours.

Please feel free to get in contact at site-enquiries@axis-css.co.uk to discuss your requirements and get a competitive quote.

Many countries have responded to the coronavirus outbreak by enforcing a lockdown to break the chain of infection and reduce its spread to avoid overwhelming health services. However, if you have a vital service or business that has to keep functioning, it’s essential to take every precaution to protect the people who use your premises, including your employees, visitors and members of the public.

And, if your premises have been shut down, your employees and other users will want assurance that your premises are safe before they return and that they’ll stay safe while they’re using them.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) is a highly infectious disease, rapidly spreading from one city in China in December 2019 to over 200 countries and territories over three months. With no vaccine or specific treatment, the main advice to prevent COVID-19 is to practise stringent hygiene measures.

This includes cleaning and disinfecting surfaces and objects that people frequently touch. Even when restrictions are lifted, there are likely to be more waves of coronavirus infections as people come into contact with others, so we all have to stay vigilant and continue using hygienic practices.

Protecting key touchpoints against the coronavirus

Poor hand hygiene is a particular problem because people frequently cough and sneeze into their hands or touch their mouth or nose, providing a ready means to spread the coronavirus to everything they touch. The virus can be transferred to other people when they touch a contaminated surface and become infected when they touch their mouth, nose or eyes.

In hospitals, schools, social care, offices, retail outlets, hotels, and public transport, there are many key touchpoints that people commonly share, including:

  • door handles

  • supermarket trollies and baskets

  • cashpoints

  • petrol pumps

  • rubbish bins

  • kitchen and dining surfaces

  • taps, kettles

  • toilet flush handles or buttons

  • stair rails, handrails, grab handles and grab rails

  • recycling areas

  • vehicles

There’s also a risk of contamination from bodily fluids and toilet sneeze.

  • The coronavirus (the virus itself is called SARS CoV-2) was found to be present in the faeces of patients and for an average of 11 days after it had disappeared from the respiratory tract.

  • Toilet ‘sneeze’, the plume of droplets created by flushing, spreads faecal micro-organisms around a washroom. They settle on surfaces such as the seat, floor, walls, unprotected tissue, cubicle and washroom door handles, wash basins, taps and soap dispensers.

Studies in offices have shown that germs can spread from an infected person to the entire office in 2–4 hours via contaminated touchpoints. They all need regular cleaning and disinfecting with approved products to ensure protection from infection.

How to decontaminate coronavirus

Cleaning and disinfecting areas and objects play an essential role in protecting people from COVID-19. It’s critical in returning a site to safe use after an infected person has visited your premises.

As a facilities manager, you’ll need to ask the following questions.

  • How quickly can I get my facilities up and running again?

  • Are my premises virus-free and are the surfaces in my premises safe to touch and use again?

  • What hygiene procedures and virus control measures do I need to put in place immediately?

  • How do I develop a strategy to implement robust hygiene standards in my organisation?

  • What do I need to do to comply with changing regulations and how do I safeguard against this happening again?

You may have cleaners that do regular cleaning tasks, but controlling a highly infectious virus causing a pandemic requires a higher level of expertise and control measures that only a professional service can provide.

Cleaning and disinfection treatments

disinfection service will first survey the site using specialists. The survey will provide a site-specific:

  • Risk assessment

  • Method statement

  • Safe operating procedures

Specially trained disinfection technicians manually clean and disinfect the site using specialist equipment, including personal protective equipment (PPE) and an approved high-level surface disinfectant. They will go through the contaminated rooms and areas systematically cleaning all the key touch points and surfaces.

Areas contaminated with bodily fluids such as blood, urine, vomit or human faeces will need specialist cleaning. These fluids can seep into porous materials and areas that are difficult to detect for people without specialist training. Standard cleaning methods are unlikely to ensure decontamination.

Sanitising large and hard to access areas

Manual methods are the first choice to disinfect surfaces, but for combating airborne pathogens and disinfecting large areas that require rapid re-entry of treated areas, fogging is an ideal solution.

Ultra-low volume (ULV) disinfection fogging involves using a fogger machine to generate a cloud of extremely small droplets of a disinfectant liquid. The application of disinfectants and biocides using this method can significantly reduce the number of pathogens both on surfaces and in the air.

The droplets can settle underneath, on top of and on the sides of many objects and inaccessible areas that may be difficult or not possible to reach using conventional cleaning methods. It also reaches a wider range of surfaces than manual cleaning, including textiles.

Rapid ULV fogging and disinfection enables the treatment of large areas in a short space of time to help to quickly break the chain of infection.

Disinfection: An assured service

Cleaning and disinfecting are essential measures for managers of buildings to making areas contaminated by the coronavirus safe and to quickly return them to normal use. Professional disinfection services have the techniques, tools and most appropriate products to disinfect areas to make them safe and return them to use as quickly as possible.

When completed, you can be sure that cleaning and disinfection have been carried out using approved safety procedures, tools and products that are compliant with safety regulations. The completion report will help to reassure your staff, customers and visitors that the premises are safe again. Ongoing cleaning regimes will provide further reassurance that facilities managers are maintaining high standards of hygiene on their premises.

  • Wear disposable gloves to clean and disinfect.

  • Clean surfaces using soap and water, then use disinfectant.

  • Cleaning with soap and water reduces number of germs, dirt and impurities on the surface. Disinfecting kills germs on surfaces.

  • Practice routine cleaning of frequently touched surfaces.

    • More frequent cleaning and disinfection may be required based on level of use.

    • Surfaces and objects in public places, such as shopping carts and point of sale keypads should be cleaned and disinfected before each use.

  • High touch surfaces include:

    • Tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertops, handles, desks, phones, keyboards, toilets, faucets, sinks, etc.

  • Recommend use of EPA-registered household disinfectantexternal icon.
Follow the instructions on the label to ensure safe and effective use of the product.
    Many products recommend:

    • Keeping surface wet for a period of time (see product label).

    • Precautions such as wearing gloves and making sure you have good ventilation during use of the product.

  • Diluted household bleach solutions may also be used if appropriate for the surface.

    • Check the label to see if your bleach is intended for disinfection, and ensure the product is not past its expiration date. Some bleaches, such as those designed for safe use on colored clothing or for whitening may not be suitable for disinfection.

    • Unexpired household bleach will be effective against coronaviruses when properly diluted.
Follow manufacturer’s instructions for application and proper ventilation. Never mix household bleach with ammonia or any other cleanser.
Leave solution on the surface for at least 1 minute.

To make a bleach solution, mix:

    • 5 tablespoons (1/3rd cup) bleach per gallon of water

    • 4 teaspoons bleach per quart of water

  • Bleach solutions will be effective for disinfection up to 24 hours.

  • Alcohol solutions with at least 70% alcohol may also be used.

Cleaning and disinfecting your building or facility if someone is sick

  • Close off areas used by the person who is sick.

    • Companies do not necessarily need to close operations, if they can close off affected areas.

  • Open outside doors and windows to increase air circulation in the area.

  • Wait 24 hours before you clean or disinfect. If 24 hours is not feasible, wait as long as possible.

  • Clean and disinfect all areas used by the person who is sick, such as offices, bathrooms, common areas, shared electronic equipment like tablets, touch screens, keyboards, remote controls, and ATM machines.

  • Vacuum the space if needed. Use vacuum equipped with high-efficiency particular air (HEPA) filter, if available.

    • Do not vacuum a room or space that has people in it. Wait until the room or space is empty to vacuum, such as at night, for common spaces, or during the day for private rooms.

    • Consider temporarily turning off room fans and the central HVAC system that services the room or space, so that particles that escape from vacuuming will not circulate throughout the facility.

  • Once area has been appropriately disinfected, it can be opened for use.

    • Workers without close contact with the person who is sick can return to work immediately after disinfection.

  • If more than 7 days since the person who is sick visited or used the facility, additional cleaning and disinfection is not necessary.

    • Continue routing cleaning and disinfection. This includes everyday practices that businesses and communities normally use to maintain a healthy environment.

Cleaning and disinfecting outdoor areas

  • Outdoor areas, like playgrounds in schools and parks generally require normal routine cleaning, but do not require disinfection.

    • Do not spray disinfectant on outdoor playgrounds- it is not an efficient use of supplies and is not proven to reduce risk of COVID-19 to the public.

    • High touch surfaces made of plastic or metal, such as grab bars and railings should be cleaned routinely.

    • Cleaning and disinfection of wooden surfaces (play structures, benches, tables) or groundcovers (mulch, sand) is not recommended.

  • Sidewalks and roads should not be disinfected.

    • Spread of COVID-19 from these surfaces is very low and disinfection is not effective.

When cleaning

  • Regular cleaning staff can clean and disinfect community spaces.

    • Ensure they are trained on appropriate use of cleaning and disinfection chemicals.

  • Wear disposable gloves and gowns for all tasks in the cleaning process, including handling trash.

    • Additional personal protective equipment (PPE) might be required based on the cleaning/disinfectant products being used and whether there is a risk of splash.

    • Gloves and gowns should be removed carefully to avoid contamination of the wearer and the surrounding area.

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for 20 seconds.

    • Always wash immediately after removing gloves and after contact with a person who is sick.

    • Hand sanitizer: If soap and water are not available and hands are not visibly dirty, an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol may be used. However, if hands are visibly dirty, always wash hands with soap and water.

  • Additional key times to wash hands include:

    • After blowing one’s nose, coughing, or sneezing.

    • After using the restroom.

    • Before eating or preparing food.

    • After contact with animals or pets.

    • Before and after providing routine care for another person who needs assistance (e.g., a child).

Additional considerations for employers

  • Educate workers performing cleaning, laundry, and trash pick-up to recognize the symptoms of COVID-19.

  • Provide instructions on what to do if they develop symptoms within 14 days after their last possible exposure to the virus.

  • Develop policies for worker protection and provide training to all cleaning staff on site prior to providing cleaning tasks.

    • Training should include when to use PPE, what PPE is necessary, how to properly don (put on), use, and doff (take off) PPE, and how to properly dispose of PPE.

  • Ensure workers are trained on the hazards of the cleaning chemicals used in the workplace in accordance with OSHA’s Hazard Communication standard (29 CFR 1910.1200external icon).

  • Comply with OSHA’s standards on Bloodborne Pathogens (29 CFR 1910.1030external icon), including proper disposal of regulated waste, and PPE (29 CFR 1910.132external icon).

Alternative disinfection methods

  • The efficacy of alternative disinfection methods, such as ultrasonic waves, high intensity UV radiation, and LED blue light against COVID-19 virus is not known.

    • EPA does not routinely review the safety or efficacy of pesticidal devices, such as UV lights, LED lights, or ultrasonic devices. Therefore, EPA cannot confirm whether, or under what circumstances, such products might be effective against the spread of COVID-19.

  • CDC does not recommend the use of sanitizing tunnels. There is no evidence that they are effective in reducing the spread of COVID-19. Chemicals used in sanitizing tunnels could cause skin, eye, or respiratory irritation or damage.

  • CDC only recommends use of the surface disinfectants identified on List Nexternal iconexternal icon against the virus that causes COVID-19.

For facilities that house people overnight

  • Follow CDC’s guidance for colleges and universities. Work with state and local health officials to determine the best way to isolate people who are sick and if temporary housing is needed.

  • For guidance on cleaning and disinfecting the bedroom/bathroom for someone who is sick, review CDC’s guidance on disinfecting your home if someone is sick.
